I miss the fall and Thanksgiving season at home.........long weekend without school, football games......fall in the air......and being with family and friends. But we try to make up for it here in the tropics! Last week we hosted a fall fellowship for our Bible study. I made fall decorations for the table, we brewed apple cider, baked a pumpkin cake, and ate pumpkin soup and other fall dishes inside with the AC on, candles lit and pleasant music playing in the background. It was a fun evening. It never feels like THanksgiving though because we go to work. But our whole community of friends/teachers is having a big Thanksgiving dinner outside on one of the streets in our neighborhood. Everyone makes part of the meal and we all share it together like one big happy family. This year we will have over a 100 people! I have been thinking a lot of all I have to be thankful for.......my family, friends, my faith, the gift of salvation and a relationship with God, all the incredible gifts, experiences and opportunites that God has given us in this life to enjoy. Living in the Philippines constantly reminds me of how blessed we are and how often we take the simple things in life for granted....food, shelter, health, a job, opportunites..........
I am thankful for the daily reminder and I hope I never forget it.
