6 Days to Go.......

Time is quickly passing and our days in the Philippines are coming to an end. Classes are finished and grades are in for the year. What a great feeling. One of the things about teaching is you never feel like you finish. The minute you finish grading one project or test, another one comes in. There is always something to research, plan, grade, think about and improve to make it better. I find it difficult to separate work and home sometimes and always feel it hanging over me. So that is why finishing a year is so rewarding. I am usually hard on myself, always seeing what needs to be done better or how I can improve and change. Sometimes that takes over me so much that I fail to realize that it is a process and not something that happens overnight. Sometimes it robs me of the joy of teaching and working with students. I lose the big picture perspective. So this past month I have really tried to be patient, to consider all the things i have learned these past two years and to realize that I will never be able to make it all perfect. There will always be room for improvement and I will always be learning. Its a life lesson and I am thankful to have taken another step in the learning process. It has definitely made for a more peaceful month and a better mindset. I want to learn this lesson before I leave and start in a new place and a new job. I want to be someone who can focus on what is important and can see beyond my shortcomings and limitations, having the right perspective and goal in whatever I do.
